On February 23, 1905, Paul P. Harris, a Chicago lawyer, called three friends to a meeting. What he had in mind was a club that would kindle fellowship among members of the business community -- the spirit to reach out in service to others less fortunate. As they continued to meet, adding others to the group, they began rotating their meetings among the members' places of business, hence the name.
The Rotary Club of San José North was chartered on February 1, 1980. Our Charter President was Ken McLaughlin -- Jim Harper, Steve McCray and George Uccelli are also charter members - each is now Senior Active with multiple Paul Harris fellowships, leading the newer (and not-so-newer) members by their example.
